Your Wealth Is In Your Spirit

When Jesus was faced with the hungry multitude in a desert place, it was a real crisis. The women and children – and thousands of the men too – were all faint with hunger. They’d been with Jesus for three days without food. That’s a long time to go without food! To worsen things, they were in a desert place. There was no nearby market to buy food. It was a real crisis.

The crisis, however, was not in the mind of Jesus Christ. The bible tells us that He already had in mind what He was going to do; and it wasn’t something ‘sensible’ at all.

In any case, look at what happened when His disciples were confronted with the crisis; see how their minds functioned. Their natural instincts and fears kicked in. Phillip did the maths and concluded that they weren’t going to spend that much on bread. Everyone was in a state of panic.

Through it all, however, keep your eyes focused on Jesus. Everybody was reacting to the crisis from a place of fearful humanity. Jesus Christ, however, who also was human at the time, was responding from a place faith and trust in God.

“What do you have?” He asked them.

And I can tell you this: With God, what you have at hand can solve all your problems in this life; as long as you know who you are in Christ; and as long as you walk in the faith of Jesus Christ.

It doesn’t make any difference whether what you have in your pocket is a million dollar or a cent, because your power is not in your cash. Your power is in your spirit. Your wealth is in your spirit.

You might be faced right now with a huge financial challenge; and you are probably thinking that you need 5 million dollars to get over it. Yet, I can tell you straightaway that what you need is not cash; what you need is not money. If you are in Christ, what you need is to look up to Jesus and start operating your faith.

Develop your faith. Develop the powerful faith reflex of your new self.

Jesus always dealt with crisis from a place of faith and confidence in His Father. He simply took the 5 loaves and 2 fish and said, “Father, I thank you.” And that was it!

Let me repeat this: It doesn’t make any difference whether what you have in your pocket is a million dollars or a cent, because your power is not in your cash. Your power is in your spirit. Your wealth is in your spirit.

I want to announce to you today that your wealth is not cash. Your wealth is not in your bank account; your asset is not the amount of money in your pocket. If you’re a new creation in Christ Jesus, your asset is in your spirit.

The Bible says:

“He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
~John 7:38

Go ahead and make the following declarations:

My wealth is in my spirit.

My asset is in my spirit.

Do you know you carry the living God inside you? The word of God says:

“…for we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”
~2 Corinthians 6:16

Jonathan, King Saul’s son, said to his armor bearer when they were about to go against the Philistine outpost:

“…Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.”
~1 Samuel 14:6

I would like you to apply that to the issue of money. God is able to solve your problems, whether with a million dollars or with a cent; it doesn’t make any difference to Him. God could deliver, ‘whether by many or by few.’ When you have God, it makes no difference what you have in your pocket. If all you have in your pocket is ten cents, and you have a need of a million dollars, don’t panic. This is what Jesus demonstrated to us in the feeding of the multitude with five loaves and two fish.

Don’t panic at all in the face of crisis, because it doesn’t make any difference to God what you have available at that moment. Jesus asked His disciples, “What do you have? Five loaves, 2 pieces of fishes? It doesn’t make any difference to God; just get what you have.”

Now, what do you have? Regardless of how big or small it is, I’ve got good news for you from Jesus: “It’s enough!”
