9. Your Humanity Is A Gift From God

God gives a lump of clay to each person that comes into this world. Let’s take your humanity for instance: It is a gift from God to you. This might shock you, but the truth is that your humanity — and yes, with all its imperfections —  is one of God’s greatest gifts to you.

Acceptance and gratitude are powerful tools of transformation. You can’t transform the lump of clay in your life, until you can be thankful for that lump of clay. Until you accept that lump of clay with gratitude to God in your heart, it will remain the same ugly lump in your hands.

I used to be very hot-tempered when I was a young Christian. And on a certain day, I was fasting and praying. Later that same day, my younger brother did something wrong to me that upset me. I looked around, and saw something like a chain. I took it and threw it at him. But luckily, he dodged and I missed my aim. I almost fought him that day. I almost hit his head against the wall; yet, I was fasting and I was praying.

Yes, I was fasting and praying; but I was still one huge lump of clay!

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
~2 Corinthians 4:7

God’s word tells us that we have this treasure in jars of clay.

So, later when I realized myself, I became depressed. I became sad. I wondered how I could be fasting, praying, and fighting at the same time. I didn’t like that at all. So I laid on my face and started crying out to God. And while I was crying, the Holy Spirit said to me, “Get up. Learn to accept yourself first. Learn to accept your humanity first. Stop trying to be what only I can make you to be.”

In the same manner, I urge you today to learn to accept yourself and be grateful; your humanity with all its imperfections is a gift from God to you.

Memory Verse:
2 Corinthians 4:7

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

Prayer
Father, I thank You that my humanity with all its imperfections is a gift from You. Help me to stop fighting my flaws, and to allow You to do that which only You can do in my life, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
