Your God Is Your Defender

“…being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
~Philippians 1:6

God’s word to you today is that He will complete the good work that He started in you. I encourage you to put your trust in God. Be established in this truth, and fill your heart with this promise of God. You can declare these words to yourself: I am God’s project; I am God’s building. He started me, and he will finish His work in my life.

The moment this truth permeates your consciousness, your flaws no longer cause you to panic. When trials and temptations come, and the weakness of your flesh rises up, you just laugh at it. You laugh because you understand that it has lost its sting. It has lost its capacity to stop you. It can do its worst but it can’t terminate your destiny; it can’t defeat you.

Praise God.

Moses, the servant of God, had a quick temper. On a particular occasion while in Egypt, he killed somebody out of anger. He hated injustice and oppression. And when he saw someone oppress another, he killed the oppressor, and buried him in the sand. Consequently, he was forced into exile by Pharaoh.

In the wilderness, the same weakness resurfaced. At some point he was so angry he smashed the tablets of the Ten Commandments. On another occasion, anger led him to disobey God. He struck a rock twice to bring out water for the Israelites when God had commanded him to speak to the rock.  As a result, God told him that he will not enter the Promised Land.

“But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, ‘Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”
~Numbers 20:12

The devil then thought that he had finally gotten Moses where he wanted him. However, an interesting thing happened when the enemy showed up to claim his pound of the flesh:

“But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!’”
Jude 1: 9

After Moses disobeyed God, God told him to climb to Mount Nebo and die there, because of what he did out of anger. When Moses died, the devil came to carry his body; because he erroneously assumed that Moses belonged to him, since he died from disobedience to God. However, when the devil showed up, he saw someone standing right there – the archangel Michael.  As the devil took a step forward, Michael warned him off: the Lord rebuke you.

I can imagine the devil saying, ‘He died in anger. He belongs to hell.’  But God showed him that Moses was His; and that He decides who goes to hell and who doesn’t.

Praise God.

In the same manner, your God is your defender. Your weaknesses can no longer defeat you.
