God wants you to have a successful family, to leave a legacy, and to have an identity. To have an enduring legacy, you must build a strong and godly family.
You can’t have second generation successes if your family is broken.
You can’t have second generation successes if there’s no clear vision and mission for your family.
You can’t even have second generation successes if you separate family from business; or if you separate family from ministry.
You have a successful family only when your entire mission, beliefs, principles are integrated into one. Your family should be at the core of what you’re doing.
“Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: ‘Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am-it is written about me in the scroll- I have come to do your will, O God.’”
~ Hebrews 10: 5-7
Your family is an important gift from God to help you fulfill your mission – a body you prepared for me to do your will. This includes your wife, husband, children, and others who are not biologically related to you, but are a part of your assignment.
For instance, I am committed to every member of my family. Every second of my life is dedicated to helping them realize their mission; this assistance includes what I teach in my blog posts.
This is how you know your family: You check someone in your life and you ask yourself, “Am I committed to his mission? Am I committed to his vision? Am I committed to his projects? Are my gifts, talents, abilities, devoted towards this person to fulfill their assignments on earth?” If that’s not the case, then you are not family for that person; and vice versa.
