Your Experiences Don’t Define You

Acts 28:4 NIV | “When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea, the goddess Justice has not allowed him to live.”

Just like the enemy does, it is in the human nature to judge people based on their experiences and outward appearances. The devil challenged Jesus’ identity as the Son of God, because of God’s word over Him, and because He was in a state of hunger, after a period of fast. Paul was considered a murderer and an evil man, because of the terrible experiences he encountered.

God didn’t promise us a problem-free and a storm-free life. The all-sufficient and all-powerful Son of God experienced hunger and a storm, at different times. God didn’t promise that weapons won’t be forged. He only promised that they won’t prosper. He promised to go with us through the rivers of difficulty and fires of oppression.

Today’s word is a reminder that your experiences don’t define you. You are who God says you are. Your sufficiency is from Him. Receive freedom from every contrary label and judgement, that may have kept you bound, and the power to become all that God has destined you to be!
