“Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call in the name of the Lord out of a pure heart.”
~2 Timothy 2: 22

Apostle Paul while exhorting his spiritual son, Timothy, earnestly urged him to flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness. God is saying the same thing to you today, “Pursue righteousness!” Essentially, God’s word to you at this time – and always – is that you should stop sinning; and pursue righteousness.

However, you cannot pursue something unless you value that thing. You would never pursue something that you consider worthless and pointless. So before ever you pursue something, you have to be deeply aware of the value of that thing. Thus, in order to pursue righteousness, you must be deeply aware of the value of righteousness.

It is your understanding of the value of righteousness that will spark in you the desire to eagerly go after it. The moment you grasp the worth of righteousness, you will strive to make it an integral part of daily living; you will go all out to make righteousness a hallmark of your character and experience on earth.

Ask God today, to open your eyes to understand the value of righteousness, so that you can pursue it earnestly.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your instruction to me today. Help me, Father, to flee from sin and evil desires. Give me an understanding of the true value of righteousness; and strengthen me daily to earnestly pursue it, in Jesus’ mighty name.
