Jesus Christ died on the cross so that you, as a Christian, can live a life of righteousness.
“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.”
~1 Peter 2: 24
Some Christians, while obviously living in sin, used to declare to me, “I am the righteousness of Christ.” And in reply, I tell them, “You are the righteousness of Christ, yet you’re living in sin, and condoning it. You say that you’re born again, but there is nothing else to show that you’re a Christian.”
I have a simple question for such people: Jesus Christ died on the cross, and by His wounds you are healed; would you rather have that healing remain a spiritual reality, or would you have that healing play out in your day to day living?
“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.”
~2 Corinthians 8:9
He was made poor, so that we might become rich. Would you want that richness to remain something that is in the spirit, or wouldn’t you want that reality to also manifest in your physical life?
So if He has made you His righteousness in the spirit, you should also manifest righteousness in this world because the Bible says:
“In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because we are like Him in this world.”
~1 John 4:17
We should imitate God in our lives – that’s what it means to pursue righteousness.
Memory Verse:
1 John 4:17
“In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because we are like Him in this world.”Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank You that I am like You in this world. Help me Lord, to manifest Your righteousness every day of my life, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
