You Can Call Me A Jesus Quirk

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people ; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.”
~1 Peter 2:9(KJV)

I like the phrase, “a peculiar people”. That means if you are in Christ, you are a Jesus quirk. You’re a weird person. You are different from the rest of the world, and you must walk in your godly distinction.

When I was in the University, at some point I was being called a “Juu man”. I got that name because I stuck to godly principles, and refused to be worldly. I was conscious of my distinction as a Christian, and I was careful to preserve it. Sadly enough, it wasn’t unbelievers that were calling me a Juu man. It was the sisters in my departmental fellowship who were doing their best to fit into the world. I was a stumbling block to their aspirations, because I regularly admonished them. They now resorted to calling me names. But that didn’t stop me. I told them, “Call me names if you want to, but I’m not going to shut up.”

If you are in Christ, then say to yourself, “I’m peculiar. I’m a weird person. I’m a quirk for Jesus.”  Maintain your distinction; be separate. Why would you try to blend in with the world? They don’t deserve the effort. The world that rejected Jesus doesn’t deserve me, so why should I even try to fit in. I can’t even adjust my tie for the world. I can’t change the color of my shirt for the world. I don’t have a little bit of any desire to impress the world.

Don’t try to fit into the world. Stick to godly principles, and walk in your divine distinction.

Memory Verse:
1 Peter 2:9(KJV)
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people ; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.”

Prayer:
Thank You Father that I’m different. I choose today to preserve my godly distinction and not bend Your principles for the world, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
