You Are God’s Masterpiece

Today’s post is a little reminder of who and whose you are in Christ. Through Jesus’ death on the Cross, the Father has created for Himself a special breed of people that will display His glory on the earth. Dear Blissful, this is your destiny!

Psalm 139:14 NLT | “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous — and how well I know it.”

Ephesians 2:10 NLT | “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

A masterpiece is the most outstanding work of a creative artist or craftsman. You are a work in progress. And not just any work, you are God’s masterpiece, an expression of divinity.

In high school, I had an experience in Art class that never left me. We were asked to draw and paint a still object. My Art teacher decided to use a classmate’s drawing paper and materials to show us what to do.

Initially, my classmate was happy that her drawing paper was chosen. However, halfway into the painting, we noticed that the Art teacher was using multiple colours to paint. Now, the object was blue in colour. So, it didn’t make sense to us when he began to slash different colours across the drawing paper. Brown, orange, red, black, purple, on and on he went.

By this time, my classmate’s face fell with disappointment. We, her friends, threw pitying glances at her. At some point, we wondered if the teacher was making a jest of the assignment. And we told him so in clear terms. He ignored us and continued painting.

After a long time, a beautiful picture filled with incredible colours, depth and shadows emerged. We oohed and aahed at the painting. My classmate became excited again. The teacher’s painting was more beautiful than the actual object. And of course, none of us painted the object the way the Art master did.

It was an experience that made an impression on my young mind. While the messy and confusing part of the painting was going on, the only reason my classmate didn’t snatch her drawing paper and materials from the teacher was because he was a master of art. So though the process didn’t make sense to her, she trusted that he knew what he was doing.

In the same way, I want you to know that God knows what He is doing. He’s got you. Maybe, you are at the stage of life where He is slashing different colours on the drawing board. And you wonder: “What’s going on?” “Is this experience necessary?” “I can’t see the big picture.”

James 1:18 NLT | “In His goodness, He chose to make us His own children by giving us His true word. And we, out of all creation, became His choice possession.

You are God’s choice possession, His treasure. You are His best, designed to showcase His glory. You may have been told otherwise by other voices. Your current circumstances may not reflect this truth. But the beauty of your new life in Christ is that as you lay hold of God’s word in your heart, your circumstances begin to rearrange themselves to reflect God’s word.

Fear not! You are His masterpiece. The best of His creation.
