For so long I wanted to be accepted by other people. This caused me much pain and discouragement. I found myself doing and saying things that didn’t truly reflect the person I am deep inside. Which left me feeling frustrated.
Until one day I met the most important Person in my life, my Lord. One of the first things I felt was unconditional love and total acceptance. I didn’t have to be someone I wasn’t. I finally was able to just be myself. And that allowed me to begin a journey of personal freedom.
The worst thing you can be in this life is someone else. You are who God has made you to be. You can not be everything. But you can begin to allow the Holy Sprit to introduce you to yourself. When you get to really know who you are I promise you won’t want to be anyone else!
You see God accepts you through Jesus, and gives you a new identity in the Spirit. This life is a journey of personal freedom and self discovery of this new creation.
It’s the opposite in the world. Your identity is based on your performance. From when you were a child you have been measured by letters and numbers. In school, at work, at home, you are constantly being measured by what you do and how well you do it. Always comparing yourself amongst yourselves, the Bible says that is unwise.
The problem is when we come to God we bring the measuring stick of the world. This is a problem. Because you are not measured by your performance but by Jesus. He performed everything that needed to be done and gave you the reward.
Genesis 15:1| “After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
God is our reward. Because of your relationship with Jesus you now have been given the right to become part of His family. Now that’s something far better than you have even began to understand.
John 1:2| “Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God–“
I’m a mother and there is nothing that my son did to be born— nothing at all. It happened the way all children are born. In the same way there is nothing you did to be born again. Besides receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior (and the Holy Spirit actually helped you). Then you are born again in to the family of God.
So know stop trying to be good and do good. Just enjoy Him. Let gratitude fill your heart for what HE did. And just ‘be’.
Blissful, you are accepted and you are loved by Him.
Ephesians 1:6| “..to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He [a]made us accepted in the Beloved.”
