"Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
~Psalms 34:8
God is very secure in Himself. He is a just God. He would not want worship and service that He has not legitimately earned. This is why He does not force anyone to serve Him.
First, he began by demonstrating His goodness in various ways:
He created a beautiful planet and gave it to you.
You are living in the world that He created, enjoying what He made.
He does not charge you any fees for the sunlight and fresh air that you enjoy.
He created you and gave you life. The life you have belongs to Him. People who really don’t like their lives show it by killing themselves. They hate their lives and would prefer death. The rest of us who are alive love our lives so much to take it. That life you cling to so tenaciously, was given to you by God.
He has protected you from the womb till date.
He watches over you and protects you daily. You go out and come in daily, you sleep and wake up each day, because God watches over you.
He saved you from eternal death.
He gave His only Son for your salvation so you too can share in the divine nature.
Yet, He does not force anyone to serve Him, because He wants you to choose Him of your own freewill based on His goodness. He won’t force you to choose Him. Never. That’s up you, based on the evidence. But you must make a choice. You can’t sit on the fence on this. You must make a choice.
Abraham choose God as his own personal God. He taught Isaac about this God. When Isaac became a man, he too choose Jehovah as his personal God. Jacob too made his choice and submitted to the God of his grandpa and father. Joshua and his household too choose God as their personal God. Then, before he died, he confronted the Israelites with the question of who they would choose to serve.
"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD".
~Joshua 24:15
At that time, the Israelites made the decision to serve the LORD.
You too must make a choice. There can be no neutral position on this matter. Choose who you will serve. There are several gods available to day: Your salary, your dreams and goals, your business, your academics, your job, your marriage, money. Which one will you serve?
Make your choice. This was the challenge of Elijah to the Israelites during his time:
How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him".
~1 Kings 18:21
Everyone has his or her own God – not necessarily the one they claim with their mouth, but the one they actually serve. If you want to know a person’s God, look at their priorities, what matters the most to them. Particularly, watch how they spend their money and their time. For some, it is dressing, for others it is their boy friend, or girlfriend. For some it is their business, for others it is their job. For some it is their marriage, for others their children.
The issue is not whether or not you have your own god; the issue is whether or not you are aware of who or what it is. There is no middle ground. Your god is anything or person that matters the most, that comes first in all that you do, for whom you would sacrifice everything else for.
Salary, and Exams are two of the most popular and quite powerful 21st century gods. These idols probably hold sway over the souls of more people on earth than any other.
As for me, I will serve and worship only the Almighty God through His Son Jesus Christ. No other god will have even the tiniest fraction of my allegiance.
Every choice comes with consequence. If you decide for Jehovah, through the revelation of His Son Jesus Christ, then worship Him. Its up to you not to choose Him. But if you do, submit to Him, put Him first in everything, serve Him. It’s either He is God or He is not. Don’t call Him God and treat Him otherwise. From the moment I called Him my God, His word became my law. Now, it doesn’t matter anymore what I think, or how I feel, if He says it, then I have to do it. Else I should not claim Him as God.
If He is your God, His word becomes your law.
"Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you."
~ Job 22:21
If you have not deliberately chosen God to be your own personal God, please stop deceiving yourself and others. Stop going to church and God-things to play religion. Just stay back and follow your real god.
But if you have chosen Him as your own personal God, then bow before Him, submit to Him in everything, put Him first.
