Ezekiel 47:3-5 NIV | “As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross.”
For that encounter with the Holy Spirit. For that next level in your walk with God. For that ocean deep consecration to the Lord where all of you responds to all that He is…will you pay the price?
Everything has a price. And, I know Blissfuls are too smart to live under the illusion of free. It rarely exists.
The rich young ruler went to Jesus to know the price for eternal life. The dialogue is seen in scriptures.
Matthew 19:21-22 NIV | “Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.”
Unfortunately, he couldn’t pay the price. But, its possible this outcome might have been different if he approached the Lord in utmost humility.
Anyway, what is the price? Desire.
Isaiah 55:1-2 NLT | ““Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink— even if you have no money! Come, take your choice of wine or milk— it’s all free! Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food.”
The currency of the spirit is desire. And, the finest food is the bread of life, in the person of Jesus Himself.
John 6:35 NIV | “Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
It’s only by desiring Jesus that you can have all of Him. Your desire for Him will lead you to seek His face, hear His voice and ultimately do His will even when it looks foolish to people around you. Because true love is as strong as death. It’s jealousy as unyielding as the grave.
And, in addition to desire which in itself comes from the Lord, you need the complete help of the Holy Spirit because trials and various tests will come along the way to prove your love for the Father.
I’ll share my personal experience. Many years ago, I told God I was willing to swim across seven oceans and climb numerous mountains for Him. I said I would do any and everything possible that He required to prove my love for Him. I didn’t know He heard me. Because by the time, the tests started coming, I lifted up my hands in total surrender, knelt down on both knees and cried out desperately to the Lord, ‘please help me.’ If not, I would have given up.
Jesus also testified to this reality in scriptures.
Matthew 19:23-24 NIV | “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.””
And, when probed by His disciples in response to their wonder at how tough it was. Jesus simply said that though it was impossible with man, it was very possible with God.
We need the help of Precious Holy Spirit if we are to see God face-to-face, drink of His spirit and drown in the ocean of His delights.
Join me today in crying out to the Lord: Please help me. Fuel an unrelenting desire for you in my heart. Reveal yourself to me and show me your glory!
