Excellence in life is tied to being the first to achieve things. “When” is more important than “What”. However, in the bible, you will notice a contradiction – the first sons rarely excelled. A lot of the first sons in the bible never excelled their younger siblings.
Can you remember any first son of his father that excelled in the bible, apart from Jesus – who, of course, is the Almighty? Isaac wasn’t the first son of his father, Abraham. The first son of Abraham was Ishmael, and Isaac excelled Ishmael. First sons almost never excelled in the bible. Even, among the disciples of Jesus; do you know that Andrew was the first son, and not Peter? James was the first son,and not John. Yet John and Peter excelled their elder brothers as disciples. Moses wasn’t the first son, the first son was Aaron; yet, Moses excelled him by far.
First sons never achieved excellence in the bible, though they were not able to be dislodged either.
The reason first sons don’t excel is that first sons belong to God. They can’t excel in life; they can only excel in God. The only place a first son can excel is in the temple. They have to belong to God; they have to be assigned to God.
Now, there are two reasons behind this. The first reason is that the first son is dedicated to God from the womb. God says that anyone — specifically from among His children — that opens the womb belongs to Him.
“Consecrate to me every firstborn male. The first offspring of every womb among the Israelites belongs to me, whether man or animal.”
~Exodus 13:2
So if you have an elder brother, tell him to serve the Lord, otherwise his younger ones will excel him. They might not be able to dislodge him, sort of, in the family, but in terms of accomplishments, they will excel him.
The second reason why the first sons find it hard to excel is because Satan attacks them. Once Satan knows that something belongs to God, he goes after it.
Are you the first born of your family? You must endeavor to live a prayerful life that is dedicated to God in order to excel in God and fulfill your destiny in life.
