Why Every Parent Must Be Prayerful

If you are not faithful in prayer, you will panic and become desperate in the face of challenges. If you don’t pray, the pressure of challenges can push you to do things that you never thought you could do.

Personally, I have experienced this. As a father, my family has needs which keep coming at me. If I am not careful, I might be tempted to do things that are contrary to my principles. For instance, one of such principles of mine is that I don’t borrow. As a principle, I live within my means. I have chosen to walk in contentment, for the Bible says that:

“… Godliness with contentment is great gain.”
~1Timothy 6:6

Now if am not prayerful, I might begin to go outside of my means. When faced with family problems – maybe there’s no money, no food, there are bills to be paid – if am not prayerful, I could get scared when I see these problems around me. At this point, pressure can cause me to compromise my principles.

On the other hand, if I am faithful in my prayers, I will have peace within me; such that the crises around can not scare me; and my principles remain intact.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.”
~ Philippians 4:6-7

I believe that every father, every mother should be a core of stability through the crises of their families. This is why every parent must be prayerful. In the crises, as everything is turning and churning in chaos and confusion, there must be a center that holds things together. There should be a core of peace in that family.

Choose to be that core of peace in your family, in your company, in your business, in your ministry. When there is crisis and chaos all around you, and  everything else is going haywire, you will be right there with peace, with tremendous inner tranquility.

Memory Verse:
Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer:

Lord, enable me to be faithful in prayer, and to be a core of peace in my family, business and ministry, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
