Which Blow Felled The Tree?

To be truly phenomenal, you have to engage in the uncommon practice of thinking for yourself. Your personal success depends on your readiness to employ your faculties in observing and thinking for yourself. Use your God-given mind to think your own thoughts and reach your own conclusions. This rare success habit is critical in a world where you can easily fall prey to the machinations and manipulations of others.

This particular post will challenge you to think. Engage your mind as you read this post, and then see what you can find for yourself. I’ll tell you a short and simple story, after which I’ll ask you some questions. This story and ensuing questions are geared towards stirring you to think with your mind and subsequently reach your own conclusions.

A certain man had to cut down a tree in front of his house. Something warranted that the tree be cut. So he took an axe, and went to where the tree was. Then he began to hammer at the base of the tree with the axe. And after so many blows the tree fell.

Now, my questions to you are these: Which of those blows felled the tree? Was it the first blow? Was it the tenth blow? Was it the last blow? Or was it a combination of all the blows? Which one of the man’s blows actually caused the tree to fall down?

Take time to think through and get an answer. Review the questions critically, and then reach your own conclusion(s).

Memory Verse:
2 Timothy 1:7(KJV)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and love, and of a sound mind.

Prayer
Lord, I choose today to engage my faculties in productive thinking. Strengthen me, Lord, to successfully make this my daily habit, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
