What’s Your Delight?

Luke 10:17‭, ‬20 | NIV “The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” “He replied…do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Jesus had given His disciples power and authority to drive out demons, heal, and proclaim the message of His kingdom. Isn’t it noteworthy that the very thing He empowered them for, was the same thing he warned them against getting overly excited about? Something that’s highly valued and even bragged about in today’s ministry circle.

I once found myself in a somewhat similar situation. The Lord had met a long awaited need which created this ecstatic feeling in all of us. He however, strongly cautioned us that nothing was to cause such level of delight in us, apart from Him and His word to us. His desire is that He remains our pearl of greatest price, in spite of whatever blessings that are being added to us.

I pray for you today, that the Holy Spirit will empower you to not labour for the food that perishes, but that which endures to eternal life. May He remain your sole delight. Bliss be with you.
