Today’s post is the beginning of a new series on Christian Giving. And I will start with the subject of tithes. It is important that you pay very close attention to this message, because I want you to receive something that will last you for the rest of your life. Nobody taught me what I’ll teach you today concerning tithing; it came as a revelation from the Holy Spirit through His word. You will do well to pay attention to it, and receive it as God’s word.
In this series on Christian Giving, I will use a question and answer format to teach various aspects of it. This will help address a lot of the questions that you may have, or may have heard other Christian folks ask on the subject of giving.
Question No. 1 –What is tithe?
The word ‘tithe’ basically means a tenth or 10%. For instance, if you have 10 cars, a tithe of it will be one of those ten cars. If you have 10 bicycles, and I ask you to give me a tithe of those bicycles, it means that you should bring one of the bicycles. A tithe of a hundred television sets would be ten of them.
So simply put, a tithe means 10%. It could be a tithe of anything. It could be a tithe of your time, resources, children, money, and so on. Just understand that a tithe basically means 10% – that is a tenth.
Memory Verse:
2 Corinthians 8:7
“But just as you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us – see that you excel in this grace of giving.”Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Thank You for today’s teaching on Christian Giving. Help me to fully understand this subject of tithing, and may I excel in the grace of giving, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
