What Do You Have?

You and I have the tendency to despise, ignore, and even reject what we have: Current job, marriage, family, opportunities, money, income, and so on.

It is human. And it is dangerous.

Because, a lot of the times, the next level is hidden in the present level. What you seek is hidden in what you have. What you desire is hidden in what is already in your hand.

So, if you are in the habit of despising or rejecting what you have, you will gradually become ungrateful and miss the next level of glory.

Understand thisMost times, when God wants to increase you, to move you to the next level, He uses what you already have.

So, quit complaining about your job. Quit whining about the little salary you have. Quit complaining about your spouse. Quit hating your nation, your church, even yourself.

Recognize the blessings you already have and appreciate them.

What you have in your hands right now may not be much:

A staff, like Moses.
Exodus 4:2 NIV
[2] Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.

A sling and five stones, like David.
1 Samuel 17:40 NIV
[40] Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.

Only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jar, like the Zarephath widow.
1 Kings 17:12 NIV
[12] “As surely as the Lord your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little olive oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”

A small jar of olive oil, like the widow of the prophet.
2 Kings 4:2 NIV
[2] Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.

Only five loaves of bread and two fish, like the disciples of Jesus.
Matthew 14:17 NIV
[17] “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

However, do not despise it. Do not reject it. Because it contains the seed for the next level.

If you will embrace today’s blessings with gratitude, if you will receive them as gifts from the Lord, He will use them to lift you to higher realms of glory.
