This Happens When You Rejoice

Psalm 16:9 | “Therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure.”

The Psalmist understood a thing or two about enjoying divine health. In the above scripture, he gives a recipe for enjoying divine health : when your heart is glad and you actively rejoice with your tongue, your body will rest in health.

I totally agree with him. From personal experience, I have noticed that whenever I spend time singing and praising God, either alone or with others in corporate fellowship, my body benefits tremendously. My body is renewed with fresh strength. Reflect on what I am saying. You may find that you have experienced same.

After showing me this scripture, the Holy Spirit told me to be more deliberate about this. He encouraged me to spend time praising God whenever I feel my body is drained, or symptoms that I am not comfortable with, manifest in my body.

I encourage you to do the same today. However, for this to work, you have to actively rejoice with your tongue. Like Rev. Wildfire reminded us recently during Prayer Connect, the word “rejoice” is a verb, an action word. You don’t wait for joy to come to you, you go after it by taking an action. You rejoice with your lips. Whatever puts you in a joyful mood. For me, singing and listening to certain gospel songs sends me straight to heaven. Find out what works for you. But by all means, actively rejoice.

Ezekiel 47:9 | Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.

When you rejoice, the River of Life — the Holy Spirit — within you is activated. When this happens, your body organs receive new life. The life of God flows through your body bringing healing and renewal.

Do this continually, and watch your health spring forth speedily. Bliss be with you.
