I hold not the Rock, but the Rock holds me
The Rock holds me, the Rock holds me
I hold not the Rock, but the Rock holds me
I’m standing on the Rock that is Christ

Your hands are too feeble to withstand the storms of life. Just like an ordinary aircraft can’t successfully fly through a hurricane storm, your human strength is puny in the face of trials and temptations.
Sometimes, erroneously you might be inclined to think that you are holding on by your natural strength– that is to say, you are holding onto the Rock. No! Like the song above says, it is the other way round. Christ, the Rock, shields you from the onslaught of the storms of life.
It is not just all about you. If it were all about your ability, if it were all about your strength, then the devil would easily defeat you. His devices would swoop you off your feet. Your human capabilities are no match for his cunning schemes. So the song is very accurate. You are not the one holding onto the Rock, the Lord is the One that holds you.
“To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy…”
~Jude 1:24
Your God is able to keep you from falling. He is right there inside you, and so you cannot fall. God is bigger than your mistakes. The strength of God within you is able to handle whatever trials and temptations that cross your path. He guarantees your success in any challenge that comes your way.
Memory Verse:
Jude 1:24“To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy…”
Prayer:
Lord help me to remember at all times that You are the one that holds me. Thank You that Your strength within me guarantees my success in any challenge that comes my way, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
