1Corinthians 10:7 KJV | “Neither be ye idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: ‘The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.'”
As a child of God, if your mind is preoccupied with eating, drinking, playing and other earthly concerns, you are at risk of idolatry. Idolatry not only happens when someone bows before a graven image. If a bulk of your activities revolve around meeting earthly needs, you need to watch yourself.
The world, unfortunately, likes to encourage hustling and bustling. Sometimes, I check my schedule and calculate how many hours of my day that is spent on making money to meet earthly needs. I am not saying you shouldn’t earn a living. I am simply saying that in all you do, make sure your mind is set on things above — not temporary earthly concerns. (Colossians 3:2)
Only Jesus is worthy of your unwavering focus. Let Him be your only concern. Because when you set the Lord always before you, idolatry will be far from you. Bliss be with you.
