Take a moment and reflect on the following words of Jesus Christ. What do you think about this word? What do you have to say about it?
Mark 8:36 KJV
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Personally, I see three things:
First of all, I see horrible possibility
It is possible for someone to gain the whole world and lose their own soul.
A person can become the wealthiest and most powerful man on earth and still lose their soul.
A man or woman can acquire and achieve all the goodies this world has to offer, yet lose their own soul.
What a horrible possibility!
And this is why we must never use material attainments, achievements and accomplishments to evaluate a person’s standing in the sight of God.
Secondly, I see the inestimable value of a soul
A single soul is more valuable than the whole world.
In other words, if you placed a single soul on a scale with the whole world, a single soul would weigh more.
If you put a single soul and the whole world up for sale in the market of eternity, a single soul will cost more.
This is mind-boggling.
Thirdly, I see a huge disparity between God’s value system and that of fallen humanity
This sick corrupt and lost world values money and earthly possessions more than a soul. This is disgusting.
God on the other hand easily gave up everything to save a single soul!
What a disparity!
Prayers
Instead of selling your own soul for a bowl of porridge, may you gain it completely, even if it’s at the expense of everything else.
May the Holy Spirit Himself give us a revelation and complete understanding of the true value of a soul.
May we win and gain as many souls as we can.
In Jesus name!
