BIBLE READING | LUKE 5:1-7 NIV
[1] One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God.
[2] He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.
[3] He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
[4] When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
[5] Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
[6] When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
[7] So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
Talent, intelligence and hard work are important. But they’re not enough.
In the face of darkness, all of that talent, intelligence and hardwork meant nothing.
[5] Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
Look at Peter and His friends:
Their problem was not the lack of talent.
They were highly skilled and experienced fishermen.
Their problem was not the absence of hard work.
They worked hard all night.
But in the face of darkness, all of that talent, intelligence and hardwork meant nothing.
The difference is in the anointing and favour of the Holy Spirit.
It takes more than talent, intelligence and hardwork to defeat the darkness of lack and suffering. You need the anointing and favour of the Holy Spirit.
[3] He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
[4] When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
Peter and His companions didn’t do anything different. Same boat. Same sea. Same things they did the previous night. Nothing new or different—Except, of course, that Jesus got into his boat and did His teaching for the day from there.
The presence and favour of the Lord made all the difference.
And I’m asking Him to pour it on His Blissful People today!
This is already happening to you! Get ready!
[6] When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
[7] So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
The anointing and favour of the Holy Spirit has moved into your boat!
Your boat is about to start sinking with the weight of the Favour of God!
You are about to explode with increase like never before.
Your financial season is about to turn for the better. Your seasons are about to change.
God is giving you beauty for ashes! He is giving you a garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
Receive Him now in Jesus Name!
#AMEN!
