What is Your Work?
Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.”
~ John 5:17
Work is from God; work is godly.
So, what is your work?
You are from the Father, you came from the Father; so everything about you has to come from the Father, including your work.
Jesus got his work from the Father as is written in the Bible.
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” ~ John 4:34
Jesus kept referring to where He came from: the Father. Then He made the following statement:
“I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.”
~ John 5:19
In other words, “My message, whatever I say to you, whatever I do, is what I see my Father do.”
Jesus came from the Father. He got his assignment from the Father; and He tells us, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish his work.” That is, “My joy, fulfillment, strength, and sense of being come from working on the assignment that my Father gave to me.”
You are in this world on an assignment. You are sent from God, and you came from God. When God sent you into this world, He gave you an assignment; he gave you a work to do. Your work, therefore, is that assignment that your Father gave you to carry out on the earth.
People who don’t know what this assignment is, or who know but are slack in it are usually stagnant in life; no matter how talented or intelligent they are.
Unfortunately, a lot of people go through life, without knowing the assignment God gave them. They go through life with no clue as to the work the Father assigned to them.
What is your assignment in God’s creation and in God’s house? Are you always at it? Are you working?
