What is valued among men is detestable in God’s sight

“What is valued among men is detestable in God’s sight.”
~ Jesus Christ in Luke 16:15

According to Jesus, something could be highly valued among men, but be completely detestable in God’s sight. One could be a celebrity in the eyes of men and be utterly disgusting in God’s sight. It is possible that what people of this world hail as success is worthless before God. As a matter of fact, Jesus Christ says that the mere fact that something is valued by the world makes it detestable in God’s sight.

And this why, as I pointed out in Success in God, it is easier to succeed in the world than in God. God’s definition of success is different from that of the world. What God regards as success is not necessarily what the people of this world call success. The truth is that you could be an utter failure in the eyes of this world and be a phenomenal success in God’s eyes.

I write and teach a lot on the subject of personal success. In doing so, however, I’m not referring to success according to the world; I’m referring, rather, to success according to God. Personal success, as far as I’m concerned, is not a matter of amassing material wealth, possessing sterling University degrees, or having a high status in worldly societies; these things, though highly valued among men, are actually detestable in God’s sight.

Today, I just want you to ponder on the fact that what is valued among men is detestable in God’s sight. Wrap that around your mind.
