Strong Roots Bear Fruit

“They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” ~Jeremiah 17:8 NIV

Some time ago I was very frustrated with my life. This is why I wasn’t bearing fruit as I should. I felt what I was doing wasn’t producing the results I wanted.

As I spent some time in the Spirit with the Lord, He began to show me that I wasn’t bearing fruit because the work was “underground”.  He began to show me about the roots of a tree. And how the roots (which you do not see) are more important than the tree bearing fruit.

The thing is, if your roots are not strong then you will never bear fruit. Also, the first storm that comes along will blow you down.

I felt a burning in my heart to write this to you today. You may not see what you think you should. You may be discouraged or disappointed. But as long as you are following God with your whole heart, He will bring forth your fruit in season— you will bear fruit!

The work “underground” is the most important work He will do in your life. It’s in that time He is working on your character, your obedience, your perseverance and so much more. So that when you begin to bear fruit you will be able to withstand the challenges without being destroyed.

You will be rooted and grounded in Him and nothing will be able to stop you from bearing fruit.

May God strengthen you today. Be encouraged, don’t give up! Allow the Spirit to do His work in your inner man! You will bear fruit!
