Acts 19:15 | NIV “One day the evil spirit answered them, Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?”

The seven sons of Sceva went around trying to invoke the name of Jesus to cast out demons from the demon possessed, just like Paul did. On this particular occasion, a demon challenged their authority. He overpowered them, gave them the beating of their lives, and they ran out naked and bleeding.

Now, what’s the lesson here for us? It’s not in the methods. It’s not in the formulas. It’s not a matter of how gifted or charismatic one is. It’s a matter of how surrendered we are to the Holy Spirit. And true surrender is demonstrated in obedience to the Word of God.

God cannot be mocked. He cannot be used. Only yielded vessels are authorised to carry His power. Your power is in your submission. Even the demons know that. Lord, help us to totally submit, and stay submitted to You.
