Recently I noticed lots of young adults within my immediate Christian community that were still depending on their parents for 100% of their financial sustenance.
What a shame. What a disgrace. It is a totally unacceptable and inexcusable condition of things. It is totally unacceptable for a young adult of 21 and above old to depend on anybody other than God and himself or herself for financial sustenance. How can someone who ought to have become a parent by now still be depending on parents for sustenance?
So, I spoke out and taught against it during one of the daily closing sessions of our ongoing 40-day praying and fasting programme.
A lot of Christians are too lazy and unproductive for God’s liking. I see this particularly among the praying and fasting lot who have the tendency to mask their laziness, idleness, and unproductivity behind a facade praying and fasting. This does not glorify God in any way. It is quite disgraceful to see otherwise smart and productive people morph into brainless religious drones all in the name of praying and fasting.
The kind of praying and fasting that pleases God is the kind that is associated with, and that results in productivity and profitability.
"Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed receives the blessing of God. But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned." (Hebrews 6:7-8).
The rain here represents all of the various blessings you’ve received in the LORD, such as, teachings, prophecies, prayers, laying on of hands, salvation, the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts, and so on.
So, what have you produced out of God’s deposits and investments in your life? What has God’s presence in your life amounted to? What are the uncommon and supernatural outcomes of your praying and fasting? Where is the wisdom of God? Where are your skills? Where is your courage? Where is your faith? What are all this fasting, praying, speaking in tongues, reading bibles, night vigils, and note taking, for?
Don’t be idle and lazy. Don’t attract a curse to yourself!
I’m certain that by now, if you are a bible-believing, praying and fasting Christian, after all you’ve seen and heard from the Lord, you ought to have become the chief sponsor of your family by now! The anointing of the Holy Spirit is also the power to create wealth. It’s not just the power to heal, or cast out devils, it is also power to slay the giants of lack and produce abundance.
Our God is increase-oriented, multiplication oriented, profit-oriented, and success-oriented.
When done properly, in humility, wisdom, and faith, the rewards of praying and fasting are absolutely inestimable.
Genuine praying and fasting should result in an increased level of energy, drive, motivation, and enthusiasm to pursue God’s dreams for your life and achieve greatness to His glory.
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
Also, when done in the right spirit and attitude, praying and fasting should result in life-transforming revelations, divine instructions, and ideas that will turn your life into a wonder on earth.
So, it is very important during a time of fasting to seek God’s wisdom regarding what to DO.
I say this because, God can only bless the work of your hands.
“The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the WORK OF YOUR HANDS. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.(Deuteronomy 28:12)
And he will only bless whatever you DO.
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he DOES prospers. (Psalm 1:3)
But don’t just fold your hands that you are praying for God to show you. Be proactive. Look around you. What can you do? What’s in your hand?
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…” (Eccl. 9:10)
Find something and give it your best shot. Stick to it. Be diligent in it that your profiting may appear.
"Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy PROFITING may appear to all." (1 Timothy 4:15).
Trust and believe God to teach you how to profit in life, in business, in ministry, and in your personal finances.
"Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to PROFIT, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go." (Isaiah 48:17).
Even the spiritual gifts are given for profit and not for religious ceremonies and rituals. The spiritual gifts of God in you should produce spiritual and material profits.
"But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal." (1 Corinthians 12:7).
"Teach my hands to create wealth and to profit."
