If you are God’s child, know that He has called you to glory and immortality. However, the path to that greatness is strewn with opposition and challenges. You have a glorious destination in God, but you must surmount the obstacles on your path. Bearing this in mind, you need to persevere when the winds of adversity blow. You must adopt an attitude of patience during the tough seasons.
We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
~Hebrews 6:12
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.
~Hebrews 10:36
The bible encourages you to be patient. You will need to persist to get to your glory land. You will need to endure to inherit and receive the promises of God.
The Apostles of old walked in this understanding. They travelled from place to place, encouraging the disciples.
“They preached the good news in that city and won a large number of disciples. Then they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, strengthening the disciples and encouraging them to remain in true to the faith. ‘We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God,’ they said.”
~Acts 14: 21-22
The apostles understood that we are on a journey through time and space; and that we must overcome the challenges of life, and remain true to the faith. They took the pains to make sure that the followers of Jesus under their care did not backslide under the weight of their personal challenges.
This is why I am not for the fireworks brand of Christianity plaguing many churches today. Church folks gather together in an auditorium and are entertained with a lot of shows. Of course, they are stimulated and they get excited. But after the lights go off and the curtains are drawn, their lives are not transformed; they still continue with their rosy paradigm of Christianity. At the slightest danger, they quake and abandon the faith. Their faith can’t successfully handle the tiniest challenge that life throws at them.
Inspired by the apostles, I prefer to go from family to family, from home to home, and meet people in their real lives with their real challenges, and encourage them to stay true to the faith. That’s part of the emphasis of our Home Church vision.
Remain true to the faith and you will reach your glory land in Jesus’ name.
Memory Verse:
Acts 14: 21-22

Heavenly father, please help me to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit your promises. May I remain true to the faith, even in the face of very tough challenges, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
