WHY WE MUST SEEK THE HOLY SPIRIT
Jesus said, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you…” —Acts 1:8
What power?
Power gets things done. And there are many kinds and shades of power: money power, political power, intellectual power, physical power, military power, technological power, and so on.
So, what power was Jesus talking about?
He was referring to the power of the Lord.
You see, each of the various kinds of power can get things done. But there are things they can’t do. For instance, electrical power can make the refrigerator run, but it can’t make a rotten corpse come back to life. Money power can purchase the best quality health care one can buy, but it caves in the face of numerous incurable killer diseases.
The power of the Lord, on the other hand, produces the works of God. When the power of God is at work, you will see results that no man can produce.
And this was the power that was with Jesus while He was on earth.
…And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick.—Luke 5:17
As a result, He worked the works of God, and manifested the impossible.
So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.” —Luke 5:24-26
When the power of God is at work in your life, you will see the manifestation of extraordinary miracles in your life.
Now, where is this power of God? The power of God is in the Holy Spirit.
So, we must seek the Holy Spirit. Because without Him, we would never experience the power of God in our lives. We will receive the power of the Lord only when the Holy Spirit takes His place in our lives.
