Prayer (1): Relationship Is Overrated

Luke 11:8 NLT | “But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.”

The Lord has been taking us through a season of prayer. This short series is its fruit. I learnt from today’s text that sonship or friendship with God in itself, is not enough guarantee for receiving immediate favourable answers from Him. Jesus taught His disciples this; on the need to shamelessly and audaciously persist in prayer. Read the entire chapter.

Like the prodigal son and his brother, it’s possible to be in the throne room and be no different from outsiders. There are new realms to be broken into. There’s an end we must get to. Somethings can only come to us as we press in through prayer, because, prayer is a demonstration of value. God doesn’t cast precious pearls to swines.

Sonship is not enough. It only fetches us crumbs. It’s meant to give us access, leverage, and boldness before God, which is to be maximised. Receive abundant grace to walk in the Spirit of Jesus and prayer!
