God is always changing; not in terms of His essence, but in terms of how He functions. He is certainly the Ancient of Days; the same yesterday, the same today and the same forever. In terms of His modus operandi, however, in terms of how He functions, He is constantly changing. God is constantly revising and updating His creations.
A classic example is the story of creation. At first, He created Adam – the first man – and He liked what He saw.
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning — the sixth day.
~ Genesis 1:31
The fact that God saw that all He made at this time was Good did not keep Him from taking another look. He continued to examine His works in the light of emerging realities. Before long, He observed that what was once ‘very good’, was now ‘not good.’
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
~ Genesis 2:18
So, He introduced a new and complementary creation – Eve – as a suitable helper to Adam.
One of the reasons many are stagnant today is that they fail to continuously review and update their products and services. The moment they see that what they’ve done is good, they stop improving. As soon as people applaud their works, they relax; and, ,of course, they start to stagnate.
It is true that change is a constant, but positive change is the outcome of deliberate efforts. If you don’t consciously work at getting better at whatever your hand finds to do, you will start to deteriorate.
Are you taking the pains today to improve on what you are doing? Otherwise, stagnation lurks around the corner!
