Obey the Gospel

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
~ Mark 16:15,16

Jesus commanded us to preach the gospel to all of creation. He promised that everyone that believes it and is baptized will be saved—forgiven, given a righteous life, and filled with the Holy Spirit. But He also warned that those that refuse to believe will be damned.

And, what is the gospel?

Here it is:

The spotless Son of God, Jesus Christ, came into this world and lived a perfect life towards God and on behalf of mankind. He was crucified for the sins of mankind so that there will be forgiveness and reconciliation with God for all men. He was raised from the dead on the third day so that all of mankind may receive the very life of God.

This is essence of the gospel. It is very clear and straightforward. Jesus commanded us to preach it to all of creation. He promised that everyone that believes it and is baptized will be saved—forgiven, given a righteous life, and filled with the Holy Spirit. But He also warned that those that refuse to believe will be damned.

He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.
~2 Thessalonians 1:8

So, it is one thing to hear the gospel; it is another thing to obey it.

Unfortunately, according to Jesus Christ Himself, the greater majority of people in this world will hear the gospel, scoff at it, and reject it unto eternal damnation. Equally disheartening is the fact that many will hear it and honor it with their mouth but will not really obey it. But the few that hear it, and truly obey it, will be saved.

You may have heard the gospel, but have you obeyed it fully?

Total obedience to the gospel means that: You have received and believed it with all of your heart; you have been baptized by immersion in water into the name of Jesus Christ; you no longer live for yourself, but solely for Jesus Christ who died for you and was raised again.

Have you received the message and believed it with your heart? Are you baptized by immersion in water into the name of Jesus Christ? Are you living your life now solely for Jesus Christ?

If your answer to any of these questions is no, then you have not fully obeyed the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ—and that’s a pretty dangerous situation.

For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
~ 1 Peter 4:17

In the light of this message, I urge you by the Spirit of God not to continue in disobedience to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Instead, humble yourself before the Lord and fully obey the gospel.

Receive the message and believe it with all of your heart. Be baptized by immersion in water into the name of Jesus Christ. Stop living for yourself and start living your life solely for Jesus Christ.
