There are powerful insights to be drawn from the story of the encounter between the children of Israel and the prophet Balaam as told in the bible. As the people of Israel journeyed out of Egypt – their land of slavery – they came to a place where they were to pass through a certain country. The king of that country, Balak, was afraid that they were going to attack his own country and destroy it, as they had done to other nations. So with the threat of possible annihilation hanging over his neck, he resorted to hiring a powerful sorcerer in the hope that he will nullify the spiritual advantage that the Israelites obviously had over their adversaries. He noticed they had some sort of spiritual cover and protection. He wanted the sorcerer to place a curse on the people of Israel. He decided to use diabolical magic power to weaken them, and if possible, to destroy them. So he hired a prophet called Balaam.

“…So Balak son of Zippor, who was king of Moab at that time, sent messengers to summon Balaam son of Beor, who was at Pethor, near the River, in his native land. Balak said: ‘A people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me. Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the country. For I know that those you bless are blessed, and those you curse are cursed.’”
~Numbers 22: 4-6

According to the Bible, Balaam was such a mighty sorcerer that whoever he cursed was cursed, and whoever he blessed was blessed – that was how powerful he was! So Balak got this sorcerer to come and curse the people of Israel; but surprisingly, he couldn’t bring them down. He tried four times, yet his magic couldn’t work. In fact, he kept searching for some sort of curse or enchantment to use, but none worked.

Let me quickly tell you this: Like the Israelities, if you are God’s child, then no weapon formed against you that will prosper!

“‘No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from Me,’ declares the Lord.”
~Isaiah 54:17

There is no charm in this world that will work against you. There is no magic, juju, or divination from anywhere that will work against you – no matter where it was prepared. Whether it was done in India or Ijebu-Ode, no charm, weapon, magic, sorcery, or juju formed against you will be able to prosper. It won’t even be able to scratch your skin; it won’t even leave a dent, because you are a child of God.

As God’s child, you are assured of His protection. God promises that no weapon formed against you will prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
Amen.

Memory Verse:
Isaiah 54:17
“‘No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from Me,’ declares the Lord.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the heritage I have in You, that no weapon formed against me will prevail, and I will refute every tongue that accuses me, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
