May God’s Will Thrive In You

Certain seeds do not thrive everywhere. Some for instance, thrive in temperate regions, while some others thrive in the tropics.

I’ve come to know that God is like a seed. His power, His grace, and His will, are like seeds. They do not thrive everywhere. They thrive only in places with conducive atmosphere.

Mark 7:24 | “Jesus left that place and went to the vicinity of Tyre. He entered a house and did not want anyone to know it; yet he could not keep his presence secret.”

Jesus could not realize His dream with this family in Tyre. The preceding verse says that “as soon as the Syrophoenician woman whose little daughter was possessed by an evil spirit heard about Him, she came and fell at his feet.” His will and desire for secrecy could not thrive. This is because there was no submission to His will. The people exercised their free will in the opposite direction of His. He was sabotaged, albeit, understandably.

This got me self evaluating, and I invite you to join.

Can the desires and the dreams of God be fulfilled in my life and in my space without betrayal? Can His will thrive in me and around me without sabotage? Can I be found trustworthy to share in His secrets and realities that are uncommon to others, like three of the disciples?

Mark 9:2 | “Six days later, Jesus took Peter, James, and John to the top of a mountain. No one else was there. As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance changed.”

I continued to ponder. Will the atmosphere of my life hinder or enable the will, grace, and power of God to thrive, such that He’d prefer to walk with me, as was seen in the case of the raising of Jairus’ daughter from the dead?

Mark 5:37 | “He (Jesus) did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.”

Have you wondered why these three were always singled out from the rest? It’s not just enough to think that they were the closest. There was a reason they were the closest. Something set them apart. They were in awe of Jesus. They revered Him greatly. This was why He trusted them to keep all He showed them during His transfiguration a secret. They were not as reckless and familiar with Him, as we think.

Mark 9:32 | “But they did not understand what he meant and WERE AFRAID TO ASK HIM about it.”

God’s will thrives in an atmosphere of reverence and submission. That was the key distinguishing quality of the disciples. That’s what makes God confide in one, and reveal His secrets.

Psalm 25:14 | “The LORD confides in those who fear Him; He makes His covenant known to them.”

I’m certain there’s so much you want to see happen in, and around your life; so much that God has willed for you. Let us therefore pray.

Previous Holy Spirit! Help me to be totally submitted to You. Create in me a heart that genuinely fears You, and may Your will thrive in me! Amen!
