Make No Provision For The Flesh

Romans 13:14 ESV | “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”

The NLT version says, “clothe yourself with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, and don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires.” God considers any desire that’s not from Him as evil. The desire in itself may not be evil, but once it originates from man’s will, and not from God, He deems it evil.

So, today’s word is a charge to not make plans to satisfy your fleshly desires. It’s a heavy and costly expense you can’t afford, if you must walk with the Spirit. Make no provision for anxiety, fear, greed, insecurity, and every vice that is a consequence of you wanting to have your own way.

Rather, receive the grace to focus on being wrapped and enveloped by the presence and glory of God. Willfully let Him have His way in your life.
