Mark 4:31 NIV | “It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth.”
Your life is like a seed. That’s the way God designed it. You can either eat it, or sow it. To eat your life is to gorge yourself on the desires and pleasures of your flesh. To sow your life is to abandon your ways, privileges, and pleasures, and surrender your life as a living sacrifice unto God.
Enjoying one’s life is pleasurable. It however, leads to emptiness afterwards. Planting your life, on the other hand, can be quite painful and difficult. But the next verse says that, “when planted, the seed grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” In the process of planting your life, you give it life. It grows and multiplies.
To live by God’s design is to deny your flesh of its desires and pleasures, and surrender your life to doing the will of God. A life lived according to God’s design, apart from the desire for God, would be a desireless, a goalless, and an agendaless one. Receive the grace!
