Let It Go

Luke 17:1 KJV | “Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come …”

Offences are a part of life, as Jesus tells us in the above scripture. There’s no escaping them. By words, attitude, thoughts, actions or inactions, people will offend you.

However, God is more concerned with your reaction to the offence. What do you do when someone offends you? Do you let it go, or do you engrave it with iron on your heart forever?

The answer to this question is important, because your reactions to offenses decide whether damage from the offence causes further harm.

1Corinthians 13:5 NLT | ” … Love keeps no record of when it has been wronged.”

Hmmm. You will agree with me that this is easier said than done. In fact, only the Holy Spirit can produce this in the life of a believer. But that’s what God wants you to do. He wants you to forgive those who offend you; to let it go; to keep no record of their wrongs, either in your heart or written down somewhere. Yeah, some folks actually jot down people’s offences against them.

I am not going to lie to you by telling you it’s easy to let it go. But I want you to receive grace from the Holy Spirit to do so, because God wants you to forgive those who have sinned against you, both knowingly and unknowingly. He has impressed this on my heart for a long time now.

More than anything, God desires to bless you. You are designed to showcase His goodness. But that’s not going to happen when you harbour unforgiveness in your heart.

Hebrews 12:15 VOC | “Watch carefully that no one falls short of God’s favour, that no well of bitterness springs up to trouble you and throw many others off the path.”

You will not miss God’s favour because of unforgiveness. Go on your knees right now and ask the Holy Spirit to help you let go of those hurts. Husbands forgive your wives; wives forgive your husbands. Children forgive your parents; parents forgive your children. Forgive your colleagues; your friends; anyone who has offended you. Let healing from God start right now in your heart. Let the Holy Spirit flood your heart with light from the Father. No more darkness! No more bitterness! Let it go!
