I once had an interesting conversation with a childhood friend of mine. I hadn’t seen her in over a decade because she was now living in another country. In the course of catching up, she made this statement to me : “I live by logic. Things have to make perfect sense to me before I get involved.” In response I laughed and told her : “Well, I live by faith. I operate from a place of conviction.” And in that instant, I kind of pitied her because I knew that kind of thinking won’t get her very far with the Lord.
Now, there is nothing wrong with what she said. That is, if you are the one in charge of your own life and not interested in what the Lord wants for you. Most of the world’s population belong to this category and that’s okay. It’s their preference. However, if you desire a close relationship with the Holy Spirit, if doing the Lord’s will is important to you, then hear this :
Proverbs 3:5 | “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
Human understanding is limited. And the Lord’s instructions rarely make human sense. The Lord knows the end from the beginning; He wrote the script of your life. Trust Him because He loves you. Find rest in the knowledge that though the path doesn’t make human sense, the end result will be awesome for you. Receive grace today to lean not on your own understanding. Bliss be with you.
