Isaiah 26:3 NKJV | “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”
Jesus tells us there are two kinds of peace. The peace of God, and the peace of the world. (John 14:27) The world defines peace as the absence of trouble and a state of rest. They attempt to find it through works and a bunch of rules. But the peace of God – rest in the midst of storms – is an effect. It is a fruit produced by the Holy Spirit, when our lives are surrendered to Him. Therefore, don’t chase shadows!
So, I usually use today’s scripture as a litmus test. It says that one way to know if your mind is focused on the Lord is that you’d be peaceful in the midst of crisis. It’s easy to be peaceful when everything is okay. But peace in the midst of crisis – the type that passes understanding – comes by getting out of the way and submitting to God. (Job 21:22)
Holy Spirit, have Your way in us! 🙌
