Romans 9:16 NIV | “It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.”

Everything we are or have, depends, not on what we humans want or do, but on the mercy and grace of God. The arrogance of the world, and in the heart of man, tend to make us attribute our blessings to our effort. The concept of ‘self-made’ is an illusion. No one, regardless of religious affiliation, can make it without the help and permission of God.

God is sovereign. Except He builds and watches, all efforts will end in futility. But for His mercy and grace, we’d be as vulnerable as every other person. (Lamentations 3:22) This calls for humility.

I pray you for you today. May the Lord remember you and cause you to receive more of His mercy. May you walk in greater humility as a result, and may bliss be with you!
