“…being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
~Philippians 1:6
If you are a child of God, be rest assured that God who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it. God is more than able to finish what He started in you. His custom is to complete any project He starts.
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him, saying ‘This fellow began to build and was not able to finish. Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Will he not first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand? If he is not able, he will send a delegation while the other is still a long way off and will ask for terms of peace.”
~Luke 14:28-32
Essentially, Jesus was saying, “Don’t start what you can’t finish.” Jesus taught us to first take stock before embarking on any project. And the Bible tells us that He always practiced what he taught:
“In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach…”
~Acts 1:1
Jesus will never teach us to do something that He doesn’t do.
The point here is that you are God’s building. That means that Jesus laid the foundation of your life. Jesus started you as a project; and if Jesus hadn’t counted the cost of that project, He wouldn’t have started it.
“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
~ 1Corinthians 3:9
Jesus started you as a project, knowing that you’re putting on human nature.
He started this project knowing that you’re wearing flesh.
He started this project knowing all the things you inherited from your family; both the strengths and the weaknesses.
He started this project knowing your circumstances and the environment you live in.
He started this project knowing that Satan and his cohorts are in this world.
He started this project knowing that there will be temptations and trials.
I want you to know that Jesus factored in everything before he started the project. He took everything into consideration, and then he said, “Let’s get the job done.”
Jesus started His good work in you and He’s not going to abandon you by the wayside. He who began this work is more than able to take you to completion, no matter the resistance on the way. Personally, that’s why I can look at Satan and say, “Do your worst. I’m not the one that started this project, so I’m not the one that will finish it.”
The Bible says:
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down on the right hand of the throne of God.”
~Hebrews 12:2
Jesus is the author; He is the one that started a good work in you. Trust Him! He will bring it to completion.
Memory Verse:
Philippians 1:6“…being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I put my trust in your ability to complete the good work that you’ve started in me. Thank you that because of your work in my life, my success is sure.
