JONAH 4:3 NLT | “JUST KILL ME NOW, LORD! I’D RATHER BE DEAD THAN ALIVE IF WHAT I PREDICTED WILL NOT HAPPEN.”
Imagine the arrogance displayed in this scripture. Jonah asked God to kill him instead of his prediction – which was actually a warning to the people – not come to pass.
In the first place, the prediction wasn’t Jonah’s as it did not originate from him. It was pure spirit from the beginning to the end. Then, why should Jonah elevate his ego over the forgiveness and redemption of 120,000 people excluding animals? (Jonah 4:11 NLT) And, for goodness sake, the people of Nineveh already listened to God’s warning and repented. (Jonah 3:5-9 NLT) They honoured the Lord.
As Her chosen ones, let’s be careful not to ever think of ourselves more highly than we ought to. We are only saved because of her love and mercy. Plus, always remember that it’s not about you or I. It’s about God alone. Bliss be with you.
