When God is with you, nothing can work against you. Any attempt to destroy you will only take you up. This is why it was impossible to take Joseph down. God was with him at every step of his remarkable journey to greatness. He found success at every phase of his life, because of the active presence of God in his life.

In his father’s house, God was with him. And so, though he was the eleventh child of his father, he got the favour of the first born. Not surprisingly, his brothers hated him, and sought to destroy him.

“So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.”
~Genesis 37:28

Nonetheless, the very act that was supposed to ruin him– he was sold into slavery – only brought him to a better place where he had bigger exposure and greater responsibilities.

“Now, Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had him taken him there. The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favour in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.”
~Genesis 39:1-4

Joseph landed in a better place. He arrived at Potiphar’s house and became the manager. Why? God was with him; nothing could be done against him.

Know this today: Anything you try to do against God would only result in your destruction, and in His glorification. An example of this is seen in nature, where you have some animals that can digest poisonous substances, and turn them into nutritive elements. In the same way, it’s impossible to defeat God. And when God is in your life, defeat becomes impossible for you.  The success that can only come from God characterizes your life.

“When his master heard the story his wife told him, saying, ‘This is how your slave treated me.’ he burned with anger. Joseph’s master took him and put him in prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were confined. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; He showed him kindness and granted him favour in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there.”
~Genesis 39: 20-22

In that house of Potiphar, the bible says that God was with Joseph. When Potiphar’s wife tried to take him down, it didn’t work. Of course, her false accusation landed him in the jail house, but that jail house became another better place. Because God was with him, he found success in the jail house. He became the manager of the place, and from there he went to the top.

When God is with you, your success is assured. You cannot be defeated because you are in partnership with the One who can never be defeated.

“The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master.”

Heavenly Father, just like You were with Joseph, may I walk in the active presence of Your Holy Spirit every day of my life, in Jesus’ name.
