How To Preserve God’s Presence

As the children of Israel journeyed from Egypt to the Promised Land, they faced enormous challenges from other nations. But because God was with them, they prevailed over their enemies at each step of the way.  At some point, the prophet, Balaam, employed sorcery against them, but his efforts were unsuccessful. The presence of God was with the people of Israel, so they couldn’t be taken down.

Why was the presence of God with them?

“From the rocky peaks I see them, from the heights I view them. I see a people who live apart, and do not consider themselves one of the nations.
~Numbers 23:9

In other words, because they lived apart, and because they did not consider themselves one of the nations, God was with them. The presence of God was fully resident in their midst, because they were walking in their divine distinction.

The people of Israel kept their distinction intact. They refused to mingle with other nations. They refused to associate with other nations; they refused to adopt their values and way of life. They rejected every form of rapport with the other nations. In addition, not only did they stay apart, they didn’t consider themselves one of the nations in their minds. In their consciousness, they never felt they were one of the nations. They preserved their God- given distinction. Thus, God was comfortable in their midst, and no one could defeat them.

Memory Verse:
Numbers 23:9
“From the rocky peaks I see them, from the heights I view them. I see a people who live apart, and do not consider themselves one of the nations.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I understand that as Your child, I’m different. Strengthen me, Father, to maintain my divine distinction and not be corrupted by the world around me , in Jesus’ mighty name.
Amen.
