How To Have A Powerful Personal Altar

This post is the second in a 3 part series on personal altar. In the first post on this series, I showed that your personal altar is you!

In your walk with God, you will be required to make sacrifices to demonstrate your value for Him. Though, not with sheep or goats! Jesus’s sacrifice rendered those unnecessary.

To have a powerful personal altar, you make sacrifices in obedience to specific instructions that God gives to you. He will ask you to give or to give up something for Him in worship.

However, you do not give to God what He did not ask of you. Do not make the mistake of Saul who sacrificed to God what God didn’t ask of him. He lost his throne because of that.

In Samuel’s famous rebuke to Saul, he revealed God’s preference:

“But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
~1 Samuel 15:22

Unfortunately, a lot of folks haven’t sharpened their hearing of the voice of God. They do not follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. They make “sacrifices” and labour under burdens that God did not give them. And they wonder why they don’t have a powerful personal altar.

Listen to the Holy Spirit; do whatever He tells you; and you will have a powerful personal altar.
