Have You Been Faithful In Tithing?

Have you been faithful in tithing to God?

This question calls for an honest self-evaluation. In God’s word, the first examples of those who genuinely tithed to God gave Him a tithe of all.

“After Abram returned from defeating Kedorlaomer and the kings allied with him, the king of Sodom came out to meet him in the valley of Shaveh (that is the King’s Valley). Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, ‘Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High who delivered your enemies into your hand.’ Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
~Genesis 14: 17-20

Then Jacob made a vow, saying, ‘If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking, and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return faithfully to my father’s house, then the Lord will be my God, and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.”
~Genesis 28: 20-22

In your life today as a Christian, can you sincerely look God straight in the eye, and say to Him, “At all times, under all circumstances, I have always cheerfully given You a tithe of all according to Your word.” If you’ve not done that, then complaining that God has not been blessing you amounts to slander against God. You’re leveling a false accusation against Him.

Unfortunately, this inconsistency in tithing to God is the reality of many Christians today. I give this challenge to you: Find one person who voluntarily, cheerfully, all the time, and under all circumstances gives God a tenth of all according to His word, and at the same time complains about God. You won’t find any. Do you know why? God is faithful; the blessings of God will adorn such an individual’s life.

Memory Verse:
Genesis 14: 17-20

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please strengthen me to be faithful in my tithing, in Jesus’ name.
Amen.
