There is a saying I learned growing up that goes “sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me.” I was taught to say that to others that were saying mean and hurtful things to me. At first glance it may seem so. But as I’ve gotten older I realized this is not true. I think Satan himself must have come up with that saying.
Let me just say this, words can hurt you and they can hurt you worst than sticks and stones. Actually you will heal faster from a beating of sticks and stones than from verbal abuse and attacks, especially depending on who it’s coming from.
These hurtful words can go deep and last a lifetime. They can cause many more problems than what you are aware of. And the closer you are to the person who said them, the more devastating they can be. These words will begin to define you and you will actually begin to see yourself through these dark words from hell.
Proverbs 23:7| “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.”
Since I have been walking with the Lord He has brought me much healing over the years from these word wounds. But even recently I was faced with an onslaught of nasty words about myself in my mind. I was wondering where it was coming from. I began to really understand the depth of this issue.
So, today I’m writing this to you, you may or may not be aware of this. But I’m going to write a few ways you can receive healing from these word wounds. And began to see yourself the way God sees you and walk to total freedom.
1.) Forgive those who have hurt you. Ask Holy Spirit to help. You see broke people break people. But whole people heal people.
Matthew 6:14-15| “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”
2.) Pray for those people. Pray God will heal them and deliver them from the wounds and darkness that torments them.
Luke 6:28| “Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you.”
3.) Ask Holy Spirit to show you what He thinks of you. He adores you and sees who you are in the Spirit. He will speak to you from that place and it causes you to move into who you are created to be in Him. I promise it will blow your mind!
Jeremiah 29:11| “For I know the THOUGHTS that I THINK toward you, says the LORD, THOUGHTS of PEACE and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Blissful, you are wonderfully loved by this AMAZING Father. You are SO precious to Him. He thinks good things about you! May your eyes be opened to who He has made you to be and may you walk in the fullness of it. You are light, keep rising and shining and rule your day!
