God is not worried about your future

Let me start this morning’s message with what the Americans may call a no-brainer: something so simple and easy as to require no thought – it might not be so obvious, though.

God is not worried about your future.

There are two reasons God doesn’t share your anxiety about your tomorrow:

#1: He knows the plans He has for you.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
~ Jeremiah 29:11

#2: He knows what He can do.

“I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?”
~ Jeremiah 32:27

There’s just one problem.
Will you let Him?

One reason most folks do not let God have His place in their lives is the desperation for worldly values.

Here’s how James puts it:

“What causes fights and quarrels among you?
Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?
You want something but don’t get it.
You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want.
You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God.”
~James 4:1-2

Desperation is wanting something so badly you’ll do anything to get it. It is an internal state of hopelessness, haste, and recklessness.
It usually comes from fear; the fear that you will not make it in time. It also comes from the pressure of comparing yourself to others.
But it also comes from insecurity; from not knowing who you are, and what you have within you.

Ultimately, desperation cheapens you and plunges you into this world’s rat race. The world’s system of success is trap. Satan designed it well to hypnotize people and trap them in an endless pursuit of illusions. He designed it to keep men and women from paying attention to God and His words – he calls them ‘lies.’

“Make the work harder for the men so that they keep working and pay no attention to lies”.
~ Exodus 5:9

It is a rat race; designed to keep you hustling and bustling all over the place chasing one shiny toy after another; toys like earthly connections, fame, and money.Yet, you can only win in life by getting out of the devils rat race.

To enjoy a life of peace, happiness, and health in this world, you must learn to turn your desperation towards God; establish a deep connection of total surrender to your life’s Spiritual Source.

They say luck has to do with who you know, and being in the right place at the right time. Well, the Most Powerful person is none other than the Most High Himself; and His presence is the best place to be.

A catapult is used to increase the speed and power of a stone – and consequently, it’s impact. You put a stone in a pouch connected to a highly elastic rubber band, pull it back with all your might, and then release it. The heightened kinetic energy in the rubber band propels the stone forward with tremendous force and speed, thereby maximizing impact.
So it is in life. You are the stone. The rubber is your relationship with God. The pull back is intimacy with God. The release is total surrender to Him.

Get out of this world’s rat race, turn your desperation towards God; seek Him in prayer, fasting, meditating on His word, and serving Him. Let Him take you to the glorious future He has planned for you.
Let go and let God
