The true blessings of giving to God cannot be bought with money. These blessings are not necessarily financial, and can’t be bought even if you’re a billionaire. They are the good things that God does not withhold from those who are truly faithful to Him in their giving and in every other aspect of their walk with Him.
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.”
~Psalm 84:11
Notice the promise above is for ‘those whose walk with Him is blameless.” So, what of those whose walk with Him are blameless?
In other words, God can withhold good things from you if your walk with Him is not blameless. The favours that only come from God can elude you if you are not faithful to God, especially in expressing value for Him through giving. It might not be money that you want; it might be something else that is good.
A good thing – as mentioned in the scripture above – is something that you value. Of course, people don’t value the same things. For example, there are ladies who — yes, believe it or not — don’t value having a husband. I know some who don’t want to get married. If they ever do, it is simply in response to societal pressure. However, there is definitely something that they’re interested in. And God can withhold that from them if they don’t express their value for God through giving.
There are some other folks who may not be interested in money — oh yes, there are! Even if you offer them billions today, they will not bat an eyelid. My mother falls into this category, she has no interest in money. Money means nothing to her. Nevertheless, in spite of the fact that money might not be a good thing to her, there is certainly something that she considers a blessing.
What is good may vary from person to person. And I want you to know that God can withhold good from the unfaithful. He can hold back His favour from those who don’t express value for Him through giving. However, to those who fear Him –which is an expression of faithfulness – He does not withhold any good thing from them.
So make up your mind today to be faithful to God in giving to Him, and in every other aspect of your relationship with Him. He will certainly not withhold any good thing from you.
